Introduction
Welcome to Once, a small tribute and TFL-approved fanlisting for the relationship of Michael Berg and Hanna Schmitz from the 2008 movie, The Reader, and the novel of the same name.Michael and Hanna meet by chance, and although Hanna is a bit rude at first, she helps Michael find his way back home. The next day, the young man returns to the same building bearing flowers to give to Hanna… and so their relationship begins. A moving bond forms between the two and they help each other to grow. I truly believe that they loved each other but, nevertheless, there is no doubt these two characters have impacted each other’s lives eternally. There is beauty in their bond, which only heightens the touching nature of both the novel and the film.
