Jamal has become one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, but the love is a bit hard to put into words. He does everything in his power to reunite with his childhood friend, despite the odds that are against him. He does not enter the game show with the intent of winning money as most people would expect; he enters for the same cause that drives him through most of his childhood. His inner strength and determination are admirable. There is something both satisfying and heart-warming to see him emerge as a strong, independent adult from the naïve child he once was.
